We love to craft and read! Today’s DIY craft idea is perfect to do with kids, especially little girls who love Minnie Mouse!
This summer, I’m requiring a lot of reading for my kids to earn time on X-Box and play dates with friends. We were inspired by the new book Minnie in Paris to make Minnie Mouse Ear Hair Clips!
Fashion is Minnie’s passion! And, as a result, she’s been invited to show her bows on the runways of Paris! At the airport, Minnie is so busy taking care of her nieces, Millie and Melody, that she accidentally switches suitcases with Penguini the magician–and finds that his suitcase is full of bunnies instead of bows! Minnie must round up the mischievous little bunnies, find Penguini, and make her bows in time for the show. Will she make it?
I love that you get taken through famous Parisian locations such as the Louvre, Tuilleries Gardens and the Eiffel tower in search of bunnies.
Reading a book and then creating a craft around it is a great kids activity! I hope you enjoy this with your girls:-)
How to make Minnie Mouse Ear Hair Clips
You’ll need:
- Large 1.5″ Black Pom Poms
- Hair Clips
- Bow Tie Pasta
- Craft Paint
- Hot Glue
Start by painting the bow tie pasta your favorite colors. Let it completely dry, then add some patterns like polka dots or stripes.
After the pasta has dried. Hot glue a bow onto a pom pom.
Glue a hair clip onto the pom pom directly under the bow. Make sure the pasta bow is on the outside of the clip, so it looks like it’s under the pom pom ears when worn. (See photo below for example.)
Then clip in your hair and be just like Minnie Mouse!
These cute hair clips are PERFECT for Disney vacations or a Disney themed birthday party. Can’t get to Disneyland, then head to Paris with Minnie:-)
The adorable Minnie In Paris book by Sheila Sweeny Higginson will be a hit this summer for any Disney lover! It even comes with a free e-book so you can easily take it on the go.
