Our Elf on the Shelf delivered magic seeds from Santa and delicious fresh gingerbread cookies grew from the seeds after a few days! We love this funny idea for a Christmas elf along with a Free Printable Letter from Santa.
Fun Elf on the Shelf Idea for Magic Seeds That Grow Cookies
If you have an Elf on the Shelf, he’s probably a pretty fun little guy! Our elf, Peter, delivered a great present to us a few weeks ago and I wanted to share it with you!
Our elf has done a lot of cute things in the past, but this might be one of our favorite elf ideas yet!
Remember when I told you our elf brought me a file containing a copy of Santa’s stationery?
On the same trip to the North Pole, he also brought back some magic seeds! We were very excited to plant them.
How to Write a Letter from Your Elf on the Shelf
If you want a letter from your own elf, be sure to show your elf what Peter wrote to us. Tell your elf to copy the text below and insert it into this –> Free Printable Santa Stationery if he wants to do the same thing!

Dear____________,
YOUR ELF’s NAME HERE has told me you have been very good! He was so excited to get back to your house that he wanted to bring you a present. Because you have been behaving nicely, I told him he could take you some of his magic elf seeds.
These seeds are very special and you must be EXTRA good for them to grow!

Follow these instructions carefully:
Plant your seeds in a big bowl of sugar. Then sprinkle with salt, a little each day.
Please take note, if you sprinkle too much they will just fade away.
Be extra good and very patient for the magic to work on the seeds.
For if you misbehave, you might break the magic. I hope you will do good deeds.
If you follow these directions and behave just right.
You should get something special in two short nights.

If you keep being good, I will bring you both a special present on Christmas Eve.
Love,
Santa
We planted our Magic Elf seeds!
After my kids planted their magic seeds which looked a lot like mini chocolate chips, we waited two nights to see what would grow. Waiting was sure hard!
Look at what grew that afternoon. WOW! Magic cookies!
This HAD to be magic from the North Pole, because the kids knew there was no way I could make such beautiful gingerbread cookies!
Can you believe how cute this turned out?

My 12 year old was was holding my 8 year old daughters elf the other day. She was screaming for him to stop. So last night Melf took a photo on my son's ipod with my son having a tiera & feather boa on with a note that said.. Connor please don't touch me again. Next time it'll be worse. Your friend Melf.
Our silly little elves have been busy since they arrived on November 30th! They've taken the Barbie Golf Cart & been chased by Rex from Toy Story, had a snack date with Ariel & Prince Eric on our coffee table and made swings out of toilet paper rolls & red ribbon. Today they were laying in a cereal bowl on the kitchen table! What will these elves get into next =)
Well those were from Santa's magic bakery. Maybe check a local bakery and see if they have a shipment from Santa.

Where do I find such beautiful gingerbread men?
Thanks so much Bonnie! Have a Happy New Year!
Just found your site and I LOVE IT! TY for the downloads which are beyond adorable. Thank you again and blessings for a new year! XO
Oh, that sounds like my kind of party!
Our Rudolph the elf had a pool party for all the other toys in the bathroom sink, my kids loved it!
Our Toby cut open one of the old pillows on our son’s bed and pulled the stuffing out, scattering it around the room. He was holding a sign that said “Let it Snow”. It was a pillow that needed to be replaced anyway.
Elf magic will be coming over for 2 family’s this year…
I just can’t believe how classy they look. They’re awesome! Thanks for sharing all these wonderful things. I just hope I could get them all done before Christmas.

Our “Elfie” said to say hit to Peter. {wink}
love this! our elf just couldn’t stand it anymore, and he ate a big hole in one of my son’s gingerbread houses. (the more easy-going of my children, who thought it was hilarious, thank goodness!!) http://fullplatecookinglessons.blogspot.com/search/label/elf%27s%20antics
Amy, you have the free download for the Cookie Party on the right side bar of this Post. I have tried to to download it a couple of times (even updating Adobe Acrobat) but it will never open. The Comments on that Post have other people who can’t get it to download also. Please advise what I can do to download this before it is no longer free.
That is soooo cute! Thanks for sharing! 😉
@Cookbook Queen,

@Kristin Stooksberry,

Our elf Buddy, tied Woody (Toy Story) up in red ribbon and stole his Cowboy hat!! 🙂
Too precious. Our little Elf, Jingles gets into everything. What a cute idea you have here.
Last night our Elf Will tp’d our Christmas Tree!! Wrapped toilet paper all the way around it! Kids thought it was a hoot. The night before Will taped a whole bunch of pictures of himself on our tv and wrote “you are watching Will t.v.! By far the best fun we have in the mornings before school. Wish I would have thought of Elf on the Shelf. 🙂
I LOOOOVE this!! Doing it tonight!!
