Another decorating challenge was to use fruit for table decorations. Either in a centerpiece, place card holder or as general place setting decor. Since red and navy was my choice of color scheme, we used bright red apples, pears and blueberries throughout our different tablescapes.
5 Beautiful Tablescapes with Plaid Christmas Table Decorations
I’m so thrilled with these five beautiful table decoration ideas and hope you are inspired by our simple and inexpensive ways to set a table with flowers and fruit.
Elegant Plaid Tablescape
My grandpa was from Holland, so I have grown up with all kinds of Delft Blue china. The blue and white plates with pops of red is a classic look and perfect for any occasion. You can find beautiful Delftware at antique shops or newer less expensive blue and white dinner plates online.
Personalized Apple Place Holder
An apple makes an easy alternative to the usual place card for a pop of Christmas red. Use a metallic marker to write the names of your guests on the fruit. This is definitely one of my favorite DIY table setting tips!
Rustic Plaid Christmas Tablescape
If you like more traditional Christmas table settings, then you’ll love this rustic plaid tablescape. You probably already have most of the items needed for this table decor in your home. With pine cones, fruit, candles, berries, greenery and a few flowers, this pretty centerpiece can be made in minutes!
In addition, you’ll need a burlap table runner, plaid table cloth and rustic wood chargers.
DIY Apple Candle Holders
Cut the top off of an apple and hollow out the inside with a spoon to make room for a candle. Squeeze lemon juice over the apple to keep it from browning right away before inserting your candle. Use battery operated votive candles if you plan to keep them on for a long period of time.
Simple Natural Christmas Tablescape
This simple Christmas table setting is one of my favorites! I love the easy DIY centerpiece made with fruit. This look can easily be done with items from your home.
Eucalyptus Tablescape
Fresh eucalyptus is wonderful to use on your Christmas table! It smells wonderful and is a trendy alternative to traditional holiday pine. Click here to find a local florist who can provide you with fresh eucalyptus arrangements.
You can also place large bunches of eucalyptus in the middle of the table and embellish with berry twigs, pine cones, fruit and flowers. Tie a napkin around a twig of eucalyptus and write your guests name on a leaf for a gorgeous place setting.
