Giant Balloon Christmas Lights and Ornaments
These Giant Balloon Christmas Lights are so fun and easy to make!
Decorating for Christmas is one of my favorite things! I love creative balloon art and happy to share some Giant Balloon Christmas Lights and Ornaments inspired by one of my favorite Christmas movies, Deck the Halls.
Movie nights are a great way to build holiday family memories and traditions that everyone will look forward to, year after year.
If you’ve never seen Deck the Halls, or haven’t seen it in a long time, then it’s time to snuggle up and watch it this weekend.
Matthew Broderick and Danny DeVito are hilarious as two neighbors trying to put the “win” in “winter” in one of the year’s funniest comedies!
Determined to unseat Steve Finch’s (Broderick) reign as the town’s holiday season king, Buddy Hall (DeVito) plasters his house with so many decorative lights that it’ll be visible from space!
The bigger and brighter, the better! Not that you will be trying to one up your neighbors, but if you wanted to wow guests at your next Christmas party these fun GIANT DIY Christmas decorations made will do the trick!
Whether you are hosting a traditional party, tacky Christmas party or just want to change up your holiday decor last minute by going BIG… these Giant Balloon Christmas Lights and Ornaments are perfect decorations.
How to make Light Up Giant Balloon Christmas Lights
These giant Christmas lights REALLY light up and are so much fun!
I made them with balloons that come with lights already inside. They were perfect for this fun craft and last for several days!
What you’ll need:
- Light Up Balloons – You can get them at Walmart or on Amazon–> here.
- Curly Ribbon or Twine
- Dark Green Paper Cups – I couldn’t find this color, so painted white cups with green paint.
Follow the instructions on how to activate the light up balloons and blow them up. If you don’t have light up balloons, try adding a mini glow stick inside of a regular balloon.
Cut a 12” piece of string and tie it around the balloon.
Punch a hole in the bottom of a paper cup, then pull the string through the hole.
Do this with all of your balloons, then tie them onto one long string. Make sure there is equal distance between each balloon.
After tying onto the long string, trim the string coming out of the balloon with scissors.
Hang on your mantel, up a stair case railing, above a party dessert table or outside on a tree!
How to make Giant Christmas Ornaments
Giant ornaments are also super fun to make with balloons!
You’ll need:
- Balloons
- Pipe Cleaners
- Paper Ice Cream Cups
- Ribbon
- Blow up the balloons and tie them.
- Attach a pipe cleaner to the balloon.
- Poke a hole in the bottom of the cup.
- Put the pipe cleaner through the cup and curve like a hook.
- Tie a ribbon around the cup.
- Hang on a Christmas tree, from your mantel or use for outdoor decorations.
How’s that for BIG and BETTER? ha! I thought they turned out adorable. I’ve had my balloon ornaments hanging up in my house for over a week now and they still look super cute!
