A towel cake can be a simple and fun wedding gift idea for a bride! This creative three-tiered towel cake was used for a centerpiece at a bridal shower I recently attended.
I love the kitchen theme with the white dish towels and utensils. You could also go with a bathroom theme of colorful towels, soaps and lotions. Really, the ideas are endless!
This towel cake was made with about 30 small rolled up dish towels. You can find pretty dish towel in bulk on Amazon or at your local Sam’s Club or Costco.
- Bottom Layer: 5 towels in the middle with 12 towels on the outside.
- Middle Layer: 5 towels
- Top Layer: 5 towels
The towels were wrapped around a toilet paper roll and held together by rubber bands. You can also pin them together.
For detailed instructions on how to make a three-tiered cake like this, see this diaper cake tutorial.
After assembling the towel cake, decorate with ribbon, bows, flowers, and other gift items. A large ribbon will cover the rubber bands holding the cake in place.
This towel cake was stuffed with small pieces of black tulle, a simple and inexpensive way to decorate a large centerpiece.
Top off the cake with a larger gift item such as these wooden kitchen utensils and large ribbon bow.
Great job on the towel cake Norma. The party table and decor turned out amazing!
If you’re hosting a birthday party and want to do similar colors as this bridal shower, I’ve got the perfect Red & Black Damask party collection to match!
LOVE this idea! Do you have any creative ideas for a “bedroom theme” centerpiece for a bridal shower? I am in charge of the Kitchen and Bedroom.
Such a great idea. For my bridal shower, my Grammie made me a “Kitchen Assistant” made out of a broom, towels, and many other kitchen accessories. Literally a life-size doll made of kitcheny goodness! 😉
too cool
I like this idea and think it would be a good birthday present too. After all you never run out of your need for these items.
