Tree House Tour and Backyard Campout Ideas. LivingLocurto.com

Summer is for making memories, so when asked me to recreate one of my favorite childhood summer memories with a modern twist… I was up for the challenge! A fun bonus is that you can enter to win $100 to to help recreate your own summer memories!

I have the best summer memories of camping in the backyard with my neighbor friends. We used to pitch a tent, pull out the old black and white TV, stare at the stars and snack on hot dogs.

I also loved making homemade ice cream at my Grandparent’s house! Although I didn’t like churning the old fashion ice cream maker, but it was always worth the hard work to eat that yummy ice cream.

I definitely enjoyed recreating the backyard campout with my friends. The modern twist to my backyard camping memory was that we had a beautifully decorated tree house (no tents for us!), fancy ice cream maker (no hand churning like the 70’s!) and yummy sangria by the fire while the kids actually made similar, yet more modern memories. It was fun for all involved!

I’m so excited to show you the inside of our tree house! Come take a tour and enjoy these simple ideas for a backyard campout.

Tree House Tour

You’ve probably seen my tree house front porch make-over. I love how well that turned out, but it took me a while to get to the inside makeover. I’m excited to show you how it looks now!

After adding a rug and painting little chairs and a little play kitchen. I wanted to give the inside some sparkle! With just a few strands of battery operated lights, paper lanterns and solar lights I was able to transform the inside into a magical wonderland!

This is quite a change from the before Tree House photos!

Whether you have a tree house or not, adding lights like this inside of a tent or from tree to tree would be so much fun for a backyard campout. It’s so easy and took me only about 30 minutes.

These fun lights were a big surprise for my daughter! I made her close her eyes as I guided her into the tree house. Then on the count of three open them… she was so thrilled and couldn’t wait for campout time!!!

That’s when we began preparing for the big night by making homemade ice cream. We had to do a lot of tests to get the perfect recipe.

I love this new soft serve ice cream maker! It’s such a fun way to make memories for kids.

When the night of the campout began, the adults enjoyed hanging out by the fire pit roasting hot dogs and sipping on skinny sangria. Yum!

I absolutely love this fire pit from Wayfair. It’s not only gorgeous, but light and portable, easy for moving around the yard.

Enjoying drinks under the stars with my friends and talking about our backyard campouts while our kids did the actual camping was a ton fun and brought back some great memories. I’m so happy our kids could create some of the same type of memories too!
