Valentine’s Day hair accessories can be easy and fun with a little duct tape!
I was gone for a few days speaking at a conference and when I returned, enjoyed a full day of crafting with my daughter! She has been using duct tape on everything lately and we came up with a simple DIY gift idea for her friends for Valentine’s Day. Of course we made plenty for our own hair too!
At ALT Summit, I was inspired by some talented vloggers. I have only made a and Siena has not done one of her craft shows for kids in over a year! I really want to challenge myself this year and one of my goals is to make more videos.
I actually keep forgetting about my and shocked that people are actually watching my videos! I just realized some have had over 10,000 views. I don’t know if that is a lot or not? But to me it sounds pretty good! ha!
I know I need to practice a LOT more and it will take me a while to learn how to make better looking videos. From what I learned at ALT, it’s very time consuming to make beautiful videos. Most vloggers use two or more cameras at once, have a film crew, do hair and make up, hire people to edit and more. Doing something so time consuming and new on my own intimidates me big time! But since Siena has been wanting to do more of her own crafts, I decided to not try to be perfect and just do the best that I can. I figure the more videos I make, the more I will learn. I’ll take on this challenge!
We sat down this weekend and made these cute heart hair clips out of duct tape. Even though there is only one camera angle and no hair and make-up… I hope you’ll watch my latest video. I would love if you would subscribe to my as well!

How to Make a DIY Heart Hair Clip
What you’ll need:
- duct tape
- scissors
- bobby pins
- fingernail polish
- cardstock paper
Directions:
Cut out a square from the card stock, attach a few bobby pins. Paint the bobby pins with the nail polish color of your choice.
Make a heart from duct tape! Cut a strip of tape about 4-5 inches long. Fold it over once attaching the sticky sides together. Then fold it over again to cut out a heart.
When the nail polish is dry, add a small piece of tape between the bobby pin with the sticky side facing up. Stick the heart on the top of the pin and you’ve got a cute hair accessory!
Attach the pins to card stock or one of my free printable Valentines Day Cards for a cute gift.
I hope you have a great week of living creative!
This tape came in a craft kit for kids, but I have seen it sold alone at local craft stores. It is a great pattern!
I’ve never seen duct tape like that in our shops here in Sydney – where do you buy yours? We only get normal silver one at hardware stores… 🙁

So cute – could totally do this with the 8-12 year old girls I work with at church!
Perfect! I'm going to use this for my junior Girl Scouts! A fun and quick craft for our meetings.
