15 Best Things to Do in Grand Cayman at 7 Mile Beach

Here are 15 unforgettable things to do on and around 7 Mile Beach that made our trip truly magical. Enjoy this personal guide for where to eat, stay, and explore from our latest tropical adventure!

Where to Eat in Grand Cayman

Exploring the best things to do in Grand Cayman isn’t complete without tasting the island’s amazing food. From beachside bites to upscale dining, here’s where to eat in Grand Cayman for a truly delicious experience.

Lunch at Coccoloba Bar

Coccoloba is a little gem right on the beach inside Kimpton Seafire Resort and absolutely worth a visit—even if you’re not staying at the resort. Wear your swimsuit, bring towels, and enjoy tacos and the best piña coladas we’ve ever had. Seriously, this drink is a must-order while you’re in Grand Cayman.

Before you leave, grab a drink to-go and head straight to the sand. They also have outdoor showers and a bathroom next to the bar, which was super convenient.

Dinner at Cracked Conch

The Cracked Conch restaurant was our favorite dinner while on our trip! The ocean views are stunning and the food was beautifully presented and so delicious.

It’s a bit north of 7 Mile Beach, but so worth the trip here either for dinner or drinks and appetizers at Macabuca, their tiki bar to watch the beautiful sunset.

Espresso Martini at Pom Pom

We popped into Pom Pom Rooftop Bar at the Hotel Indigo right when they opened and tried their Espresso Del Sur—hands down the best espresso martini I’ve ever had.

Be warned though, this is a very dressy kind of place. We were dressed in casual sundresses, straw hats with flip flops, and received the “you’re underdressed”treatment. We didn’t stay long, but it was worth the not so great service due to our dress for the delicious drinks and rooftop view! If you plan to visit Pom Pom Rooftop Bar, definitely dress up and make reservations.

Special Occasion Dinner at Grand Old House

Grand Old House is a historic house on Grand Cayman and a local favorite. It’s a beautiful Caribbean themed restaurant with waterfront views. The food was just okay (for the price), but it’s a perfect spot for celebrations. They bring out a cake with a sparkler for birthdays—we saw several during our visit! Definitely worth checking it out.

Other Highly Recommended Spots to Eat & Drink in Grand Cayman

We didn’t have time to try these restaurants and bars, but heard great things from both locals and fellow travelers:

  • Tillies – (at Palm Heights) Upscale and trendy Caribbean cuisine that was the “hot spot” at the time of our visit. We heard amazing reviews from fellow travelers about this restaurant. You’ll want to dress up and make reservations.
  • Library by the Sea (at the Kimpton) – An upscale cocktail experience, voted one of the Top 50 Bars in North America with literary-themed cocktails.
  • Veranda (at the Marriott)– Their Friday night Asado dinners in the summer sound like a blast!
  • Saint June (at The Ritz) – A gorgeous beachfront restaurant.
  • The Wharf – A casual and fun waterfront restaurant. Enjoy a 20% happy hour discount from 4-6:30 pm with great views.
  • Casanova – An Italian spot on the water that everyone raves about.

Grand Cayman Beyond the Beach: Unique Activities Not to Miss

4-Stop Stingray Eco Tour

We loved this boat tour with George’s Watersports! It included Stingray City Sandbar, snorkeling the Barrier Reef, Starfish Point, and a mangrove tour.

George’s provided free beer, sodas and water along with a shuttle bus pickup from select resorts. We’d definitely book with them again.

Cayman Turtle Centre

The Cayman Turtle Centre is a fun stop, especially if you’re traveling with kids or animal lovers. Check the schedule before you go so you can be there during turtle feeding or swim times.

Bioluminescence Snorkel Tour

If you are brave enough to dress in protective gear and snorkel in Bio Bay at night, then this is the tour for you! Apparently the bioluminescence visibility is 10x better in the water with a mask. George’s Watersports offers this unique bioluminescence experience and we heard great things from fellow travelers who did this tour.

Sample Rum at a Local Distillery

Take a tasting tour and try local favorites like Seven Fathoms Rum, aged under the sea at Cayman Spirits Co. Distillery! We wish we had time to experience this. It sounds so fun!

Where to Stay on 7 Mile Beach

There are so many amazing resorts to choose from that it’s hard to decide where to stay! According to the locals, these are the top three resorts on Grand Cayman’s 7 Mile Beach:

  • Kimpton Seafire Resort & Spa
  • The Ritz-Carlton
  • The Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa

We also met people staying at the Holiday Inn Resort Grand Cayman who really liked it. It includes a full breakfast and offers a shuttle to nearby public beaches.

Where We Stayed on our Girl’s Trip:

We stayed in a cute 2-bedroom condo called Calypso Cove, located on the northern end of 7 Mile Beach.

How to Get Around 7 Mile Beach

There’s no Uber or Lyft on the island. We chose not to rent a car (driving on the opposite side of the road wasn’t appealing!), so we asked our cab driver from the airport for her number and used her the entire trip. Carmen was fantastic and reliable.

Taxis are easy to find, especially at the airport. If you’re staying at a resort, many offer shuttle options as well.

What to Be Aware of When Visiting Grand Cayman

As beautiful and relaxing as Grand Cayman is, there are a few things to be aware of:

  • No Uber or Lyft. Transportation needs to be arranged by cab or shuttle.
  • Limited Liquids Allowed in Carry-On Baggage – When packing, be mindful of what you bring on your trip to Grand Cayman. Airport security is very strict on what you can have in your carry-on. On the flight home, you’re only allowed to have one small quart-sized clear bag of liquids per person, otherwise you’ll have to throw out extra liquid items or check your bag.
  • All beaches are public. That’s great for access, but be prepared for the occasional local who has probably been drinking/smoking to possibly approach you as early as 9am, asking for money or trying to sell something. Be polite, but firm and let them know you are not interested.
  • Safety: Grand Cayman is known for being one of the safest islands in the Caribbean, but always stay aware of your surroundings—especially on the beaches, even at the 5-star resorts.

What to Do if You Feel Unsafe in Grand Cayman

  • If you feel unsafe or are being harassed, call 911.
  • To report non-emergency behavior, call the RCIPS Confidential Tip Line: 949-7777
