How to Make the BEST Buffalo Chicken Dip
This amazing Buffalo chicken dip is very addicting! Be sure to make a double batch if you have more than 4 people at the party. This recipe can serve up to 8 people, but believe me, it will be gone fast!
You’ll need these ingredients:
- 3 cups cooked chicken breast (Rotisserie chicken works great and saves tons of time.)
- 8 oz cream cheese
- 12 oz of Blue cheese or Ranch dressing (I used Blue cheese dressing)
- 1 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
- 1 – 2 cups Buffalo chicken wings sauce or hot sauce (Ted recommends Franks Hot Sauce)
- Blue cheese crumbles and fresh parsley for garnish is optional
It’s simple to make Buffalo Chicken Dip!
This dip is so simple! The easiest thing to do is to put chicken in a food processor and chop until crumbly. If you don’t have a food processor, you can shred your chicken by hand or use a hand held mixer. Put the chicken into a casserole dish and press down until the bottom is completely covered, about 1/4 inch thick.
Sprinkle hot sauce over the chicken. Do not mix it in, just sprinkle the hot sauce on top of the pressed chicken until it is covered. Put as much as you would like on here. I usually don’t use more than a cup because the Franks hot sauce can make this dip very spicy.
Melt the cream cheese and combine with the dressing and pour the cream cheese mixture over the chicken. Again, do not mix! Just pour over the chicken until completely covered.
Bake for 20 minutes or until hot and bubbly. Add the cheddar cheese to the top and bake a little more until it’s melted.
To save on calories and carbs, this Buffalo chicken dip is amazing served with celery or carrots! The crowd favorite is usually chips or bread though.

Can you make this ahead of time?

This is a fave with my daughter’s cheer team. I’ve found a cheater method, too! I spread the cream cheese out in a pyrex, sprinkle the chicken over it, pour the ranch over that and put mozzerella, jack, n cheddar over it. We serve it with celery in Rochester like they do in Buffalo 😉 and also with Triscuits Rosemary/Garlic or Scoops. Love this!!
Amy Locurto says
That sounds great! I like the idea of serving it with celery too!

Can I prepare this in a casserole dish (other than heating in oven) and keep refridgerated until ready to cook next day?

This dip has been a family favorite for a several years now. Only thing I do to the same recipe is add 2 cups of chopped celery. In Buffalo NY we always have Celery with our Wings and Blue Cheese. I also don’t layer – I mix everything together including the cheese in one big bowl and bake in oven 25 minutes.
Amy says
The celery addition sounds great. I’ll try that next! Thanks!
Niki says
We actually EAT it with Celery. I serve some chips/bread with it, but mostly celery sticks and carrot sticks.
I also have always premixed the dip before baking, but I think I would like your method better, as I hate how the chicken doesn’t stay chunky in my recipe.
Thanks!

I love this version of the buffalo chicken dip recipe. I saw one on Pinterest that had canned chicken & I’d much rather use rotisserie chicken.
danielle says
could i make this the same way except put it in a crock pot?
Amy says
I haven’t tried the crock pot, but I bet it would work!
Kate says
This may be one of the best things I have ever tasted!!! 😀 I made it for a girls night… and it was a huge hit!
Kelli says
I really liked the recipe! I substituted the rotisserie chicken with canned and it was still very tasty! 🙂

My husband won’t like it, but I will! Can’t wait to try it!
