When looking for some Romantic Vacation Ideas, I hope you’ll enjoy a look at a few places that I love!
Romantic Vacation Ideas Outside of the United States
I absolutely love to travel and before having kids, my husband and I did quite a bit of romantic getaways! If you are looking for some Romantic Vacation Ideas, then I can’t wait to tell you about a few of my favorite places.
This week the I Heart Faces photo challenge is all about your story in photos. The theme is “Places I Love”. With Valentine’s Day on the way, we thought it would be interesting to see some of your most romantic (or just regular) places. It’s a week of fun and hopefully a way to get to know one another better. I had a lot of fun going through old photos for this challenge, when in reality I should have been working! Oh well, sometimes it’s nice to take a blast through the past.
There are many romantic vacation places I love, but here are several that stand out in my memory as being the top favorites.
Disclaimer: All of the following photos are at least 8-15 years old. Hopefully I’ll make it back to get some photos with my good camera in the next decade or two!
Romantic Vacation Ideas I Love
St. Lucia
Our honeymoon in St. Lucia was definitely one of the most romantic and a place I love! We stayed at Anse Chastanet, before it was anything but a few tree houses. Now it’s a fancy spa destination and absolutely gorgeous! We relaxed on the black sand beach, snorkeled, rode bikes through the rain forest and went on sunset cruises. Ahhhh! I can’t say enough good things about this amazing resort.
Venice
Soon after getting married we traveled through Italy. Venice was definitely the most romantic! My husband loved it because there was no car traffic and we had to walk everywhere. It was a lot less hustle and bustle from other cities which made it more romantic for him. I loved the beauty and of course the food! It was like stepping into a fake world. You have to go here sometime in your life. Find great deals to Venice here.
This was the patio of our hotel. There were so many beautiful, unexpected spots in Venice.
Rome
Rome is one of the most amazing romantic vacation destinations I’ve ever been. Not only is it the perfect place to explore with your significant other, but everyone seems to be in love in Italy! Find the best deals on the most romantic rooms here. Rome can be very hectic and busy. Traffic is insane and there will be crowds. So to get away from the crowds, restaurants might be other’s favorite romantic places to visit, but my favorite place was the Colosseum. It was a magical site!
It’s such a big space that you can find a spot just for yourself. My husband and I sat in silence at the top of the Colosseum for a long time taking it all in.
Loire Valley, France
I sifted through a bag of old photos (taken in film…GASP!) and found my Château of Chenonceau photos. This amazing castle is in the Loire Valley of France and is known as the castle of queens. This photo does not do this justice at all. If you are ever interested in visiting a romantic, beautiful castle with amazing scenery and gardens, you must make a trip here! Paris is romantic, but a trip to Chenonceau was definitely my most memorable romantic vacation spot.
What are some places you love?

Hi Amy,
I’m Angie’s SIL. I saw your picture from St. Lucia, and recognized that beach! We went to St. Lucia on our honeymoon too, and we went snorkeling at Anse Chastanet but stayed at Ladera. We loved it!
