Last weekend my living room looked like this. I spent some time putting up curtains and adding a splash of fall color to transform the room. I can hardly believe how different it looks now, especially on my limited budget!
I hope you enjoy my living room makeover photos and get some decorating ideas for your own home.
First of all, you might want to see what the room looked like last year before I got hardwood floors by clicking here. Since getting new floors, it’s taken me a year to decide what I wanted to do with this room.
I moved my old white furniture from my formal living area (that we never use) into the main living room. Since moving that furniture, I decided to stick with gray tones and add pops of color with accessories. But it’s been nearly a year and I still had not finished the room completely. So last weekend, I was determined to get the room decorated.
This is the change after going to Ikea for some new pillows, a rug and curtains. I think it turned out pretty great for a quick, inexpensive makeover!
I have such large windows that these curtains took a lot of time to iron and hang. I was proud of myself for not falling off of the ladder and breaking something!
I’m not going to lie, there was quite a bit of cursing involved, especially after having to make several trips to Lowes and a second trip to Ikea for missing items. After a full day and evening, the curtains were finally hung. I celebrated with a glass of wine as I sat admiring my handy work:-)
This rug was not what I imagined in this room, but I couldn’t resist the price at Ikea. I bought it thinking I would probably not like it and take it back. But after adding it to the room, I think it works well.
I love adding bits of color around the room. As you can tell, I’m really into orange right now. It’s the perfect color for fall and works well with my warm toned kitchen colors that this room is connected to.
I found the fun patterned candle holder at Ikea and the velvet pumpkins are from Love Feast Shop. I love these pumpkins so much that I display them all year-long!
It’s pretty amazing how a few items can change the room.
