How to make Flip Flop Cake Pops
I’m going to give you the cake pop basics. They are really simple! You can have fun decorating them with different flowers, straps, sparkles etc. Let your imagination run wild! So pull your hair back into a pony tail, grab a tall glass of iced tea, put on some music and let’s make some pops!
What You’ll Need:
- Blue Candy Melts
- Lolliop Sticks
- Baked Cake & Icing. Flavor of your choice.
- Flower Sprinkles
- Pull Apart Twizzlers or licorice laces
Directions
Mix the cake and icing together in a bowl. Shape into a cake ball. Squeeze the middle to form an hour-glass shape.
Once you have your hour-glassy looking shape, you’re going to want to then shape it into your “flip flop” form. (Put it down on the counter if that’s more comfortable for you).
Just smooth the edges and form it to make it look like a flip flop.
**TIP** Remember to exaggerate the curve somewhat. Whenever you’re making a sculpted cake pop with curves or indentations, the candy coating will build up in the grooves when you dip it. You want to make sure that they’re deep enough for the candy coating to settle and dry and still show the form.
Dip the stick into the melted candy and insert into cake pop. Form again if need be.
Dip in melted candy and let dry.
You can, by all means, pipe the strap on and call it a day, but I decided to use licorice laces….because candy makes everything sweeter!
Place it on your dry pop and cut it to size.
Dip the cake pop again and place the strap onto the flip-flop. Place the sticks into styrofoam and let dry.
While my pop was drying, I decided to fancy up my flower quinns, so here’s what I did. (Totally unnecessary, but that’s how I roll) LOL!
Next, put a small dot of chocolate on the strap and attach your flower, or decoration.
That’s it! You’re done!
