Historic Rockport, Massachusetts is a beautiful fishing village full of wonderful food, shopping and activities! It’s the perfect day trip from Boston.
Enjoy a photo tour of Rockport!
Happy Independence Day! I love to travel to gorgeous locations and happy to be in Boston enjoying time with my husband’s side of the family.
We love New England and if you have never been here before, I thought you might enjoy these photos of my family vacation photos from a day trip from Boston I took with my sister-in-law.
We enjoyed a great day trip to Rockport, Mass. A quaint historic little fishing village with beautiful scenery and wonderful shops.
If you are ever in the New England area, I highly recommend walking around this beautiful town. You can park and walk around the entire town in just a few hours. But be sure to make time to shop!
Rockport is such a cute little town! I loved the huge lobster buoys everywhere.
You’ll also find fantastic seafood and shopping.
And also yummy strudel.
One of my favorite shops was James Russell Goldsmiths. They hand make the most wonderful jewelry. I enjoyed talking with the family and learning more about how they make their jewelry.
You can find gorgeous earrings and bracelets from $19 on up. A great place to call if you need gifts. Hopefully they will get online soon! I might have talked them into it:-)
There is a small beach if your kids want to make sand castles. You can also kayak and take boat tours. There is so much to do!
Everything in Rockport was picture perfect on the day we visited. What super day with family!
What are you doing this weekend? I hope you’re enjoying your holiday!

Oh this is hilarious. I just saw this because you pinned it on Pinterest. I spent a summer in Rockport and the owner of James Russell is a friend of mine. Still not online, though…
The place looks nice, I haven’t been to England but they say that the people there are nice and hospitable. It looks like a good place to settle down once people retire since its very peaceful and clean, just a perfect location for that. 🙂
Hello,
I am wondering if a retiree would enjoy living in Rockport year round? I currently live in NY city and love New England as I have a child who lives north of Boston in a lovely little town. I am also
interested in Newburyport. I would buy a small house or a condo.
Linda
Ahh, sounds like the perfect holiday, love that last photo with the kayaks, gorgeous! 🙂
That looks like such fun!!! I think I need to venture out of Texas more often!
What beautiful scenery and your photos are simply amazing!

What a beautiful little village!! Love it!
I had the incredibly good fortune of spending summers until I was 7 in Rockport. My Mom was a “townie” and we shacked up with my widowed grandmother. What amazingly special memories I have from there. My Dad lives there now and I don’t visit nearly as often as I should. So glad you got to experience the magic of Rockport. p.s. LOVE your blog!
Beautiful pictures! I am spending the weekend just down the road in Gloucester. We had an amazing day on Good Harbor Beach.
Thank you for this post! I’m an Innkeepers daughter from Rockport and this town thrives because of visitors like you. I’m now an artist rep for some talented Rockport artists (Kaihlanen Gallery). I would love to send you a print from the gallery of the motif to remember your trip. My treat….and thanks for highlighting our tourist community.
I still remember the place (I was there in 1995). I loved it! I was just sorry there were no DSLR cameras back then to take as many wonderful pics as you did 🙁
Aaaagh, memories 🙂
We were in Maine at the end of May. It was our first visit to the Northeast. I have fallen in love and am determined to spend the summers of my old age on the ocean in Maine. It appears from your photos that I will have to visit MA on occasion. I envy your cool weather July 4th visit. It’s so hot in Atlanta! I have posted photos from our trip on my blog.
I love Rockport. We try to go there every year & it’s on my to-do list. Check out Newburyport, Portsmouth, NH too if you’ve never been there & Ogunquit/Kennebunkport, Maine.
Wow; Sonoma, CA and now Rockport, MA! How lucky for you that you are taking “from sea to shining sea” literally! I, too, love both coasts; and certainly, the Gulf! Head on down to Rockport, TX and you will have it all covered as well! Happy Fourth!
You’re in my neck of the woods :O) (kinda)
There are so many great seafood places along the coastal towns of Ma. My favorite are in Ipswich. you should check out Cranes beach and Castle hill on the Crane estate. The movie the Haunting was supposed to based onit ..but I’ve been there many times for events and it doesn’t seem haunted .It is beautiful
This is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. Im usually a lurker but this was to pretty not to comment. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Stunning–so picturesque it doesn’t even look real!!! Love the pictures!
It is beautiful there. One of my favorite places to visit. The air smells so clean and the people are so friendly!
