Where and When is Oktoberfest?
The original Oktoberfest is the world’s largest beer folk festival held annually in Munich, Germany. It runs 16-days from mid September to the first weekend in October.
I’m sure your hometown has a smaller scale festival that includes great beers and food. I can only imagine the party that happens in Germany!

Why do we celebrate Oktoberfest?
Many people have no idea what Oktoberfest is about. This tradition started in October 1810 to celebrate the marriage of Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig to the Saxon-Hildburghausen Princess Therese. The citizens of Munich were invited to join in the festivities which were held over five days on the fields in front of the city gates.
Now that you know when and why we celebrate, it’s time to start planning your own festivities!
