If you have kids, then you should LOVE this free printable I created for kids. I’ve been trying to figure out a new way of getting them to do extra chores and when my friend’s son came home from school with an application for classroom jobs… I just had to make one for my house!!
Basically, this is a job application for chores beyond my children’s normal duties of cleaning their room and picking up toys. I feel like they should do everyday chores as a part of our family, but should learn what it’s like to be in the “real world” by getting paid to do specific jobs. I have used the Dave Ramsey book and a chore chart to teach them about money, which I still LOVE, but needed to change it up a bit.
This application has jobs that will work for both preschoolers and grade school aged kids. It lets them choose their own jobs and you set the time period and how much they will get paid. Just download and read it… I think you’ll enjoy it. I sure had fun making it!!
If you were wondering about the job “Speaker of the House”…. it’s to try to get my son to open up more about his day. So far, he has NOT picked that job yet. ha!
Here are a few job description samples:

Please comment below if you plan to use this. I would also love if you came back to tell me how it’s going for you. Thanks- Amy

I love it! We actually have been teaching Dave Ramsey’s FPU class in our home for the last 5 years. This is a great addition to his kids stuff. Thanks for sharing it.
As Dave teaches: Kids should do some chores around the house just because they’re a part of the family and its part of their family responsibilities. However, if you do that all the time, you miss the opportunity to teach them that money is equivalent to work. You’ll miss some very teachable moments.
In addition, paying them for commissions gives you another teachable moment when you help them decide how, when and where to use that money they’ve earned. And they really do spend, save and give money differently if they’ve worked to earn it than if you just give it to them as an “allowance”.

AMY! This is just about the cutest thing ever…I love it! Oh and btw…can you give me a teensy weensy hint on what day registration might open? My husband will be mad if I am glued to my screen for 24 hours…or 48…or more. My photography partner and I are both DYING to go to it!!! Maybe…a little hint? Come on…you know you want to spend another day with me…=)

I LOVE it!!!
And I have shared it (along with your blog). The girls that I work with LOVE it too
There are certain chores that my daughter is expected to do (as a member of the house), but she is learning about money (and the earning of it) at school this semester and I love the contract look of this. It will supplement the other chores that she does.

My kiddos are too young yet for this, but it is a great idea.

This is great! When I was growing up we were expected to do things as a part of the family too. We worked as a team for things like folding laundry, etc to learn as well as build relationships
I am checking it out now, I can’t resist the cuteness!

Sondra,
Your husband doesn’t give you money to do whatever you want? Giving the kids allowance teaches them about money or a forced savings account.
Of course my post us based off of assuming you are a stay at home mom.

Ok
I can’t possibly use these because
#1 I don’t pay my children to do chores, because no one pays me to do it. The more they lighten my load, the more fun we can have.
#2 We have a simple expectation at our house: If you Eat, Wear clothes, or use a bathroom in our house there WILL be chores to do. You tell me what you are willing to give up…I’ll let you know what you are off the hook for!

Printing this now! Perfect for my 8 and 10 year olds!!! Thank you! P.S. Love the Speaker of the House job. We do “Highs and lows” at dinner each night. Interesting what you learn.
