Gingerbread Houses
Posted by Amy | Filed under Crafts, Food, Holidays
I’m picking up my homemade gingerbread house from my friend Belinda today. I’m so excited! So I’ve been on a search for creative decorating ideas. This is what I did with my house last year…
Check out these cute gingerbread houses I found on my search.
Submit and vote on your favorite gingerbread houses on This Old House. Here are a few of my favorites.
Sugar by Winz made cute graham cracker houses.
I love this one by Parents Magazine. They have directions as well.
I love the roof on this one by Stuck in Customs.
A beautiful house by guimauvette
This bird house by Torie Jayne is super cute.
Do you make or decorate gingerbread houses?
I added this post to The Inspired Room’s Holiday Linky. Lots of fab ideas there!

Please don’t look at our houses. I am affriad they are seriously not up to par. Next year I will come back for some ideas. I am not sure if a certain 5 year old will let me help her and use the ideas, but I can always try. Merry Christmas!

Gingerbread houses are a tradition my husband wants to pass down in our family. I have a recipe that includes the pattern for making one and will probably try it again this year. Except the hubs is putting it together b/c he is the perfectionist and is least likely to mess things up!
Love the gingerbread houses here! My favorite is the one by Stuck in Customs b/c I could probably put that one together!

WOW! Those are some amazing houses!!
I saw an interview that Oprah did with the Obama’s and she got a tour of the White House all decked out for the holidays including the annual white house gingerbread house – it was HUGE – an exact replica of the white house that was over 2000 pounds!!
We have not ever tried to make one yet – have thought about it though – maybe a new tradition??

Aww I have such good memories of building gingerbread houses…I built them till I was like 18 or 19! We preferred doing this over christmas cookies in my house. We had so much fun decorating and me, my sister and brother had such different ideas! Too fun!

We try to make gingerbread houses once the kids are out of school: sometimes with real homemade gingerbread (ok, once) and sometimes (ok, most of the time) with graham crackers. It’s always fun to see how the kids get creative!
