Make the viral dot cake in brownie form with this homemade Dot Cake Brownies recipe. From scratch brownies with a chocolate chip fudge base and crunchy dot cake rainbow sprinkle topping.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a baking pan.
Combine butter, eggs, flour, sugar, vanilla and baking soda into a large bowl.
In a microwave, melt 1 cup of semi sweet chocolate chips. Cook at 30-50 seconds at a time and stir, then repeat until totally melted.
Stir in melted chocolate chips
Add remaining 1 1/2 cup of chocolate chips to batter
Bake 20 minutes.
Remove from oven to cool before frosting brownies.
Frosting
Place the butter in a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment (or use an electric hand mixer). Beat on medium-high speed for about 2-3 minutes until creamy.
Slowly add the powdered sugar in small batches along with the pinch of salt until mixed well.
Pour in the vanilla extract and milk and whip on medium-high speed for 3-4 minutes until the frosting is silky, smooth, and easily clings to a spoon.
Decorate Brownies
With a bent spatula or flat knife, add a thick layer of frosting over the cooled brownies.
Coat the entire top of frosting with sprinkles. Place a paper towel or wax paper over the sprinkles and gently press down. Add more sprinkles to entirely coat the top.
Place brownie pan in freezer for 20-30 minutes before cutting to ensure you get a clean cut.
