This easy Cat Cheeseball Recipe is a savory dip as simple to whip up as it is adorable to look at. By combining creamy cream cheese with tangy goat cheese, you get a sturdy base that holds its shape beautifully while staying smooth and spreadable.
½cupSliced Almonds for the cat fur markings and ears
1bunchFresh Chives for whiskers and face details
3Pink Heart Sprinkles for the eyes and nose
Crackers or Baguette slices
Instructions
Mix the Base
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, goat cheese, and garlic powder. Use a wooden spoon or hand mixer to blend until completely smooth.
Shape the Body
The Body: Scoop out about 2/3 of the mixture and place it on your serving platter. Use your hands (or plastic wrap to keep them clean!) to form a large, slightly oval mound.
The Head: Form the remaining 1/3 of the mixture into a smaller round ball and press it firmly against one end of the body.
The Ears: Use two large, intact sliced almonds and press them into the top of the head to create pointed cat ears.
Decorate the Fur
Press the remaining sliced almonds into the back and sides of the cat's body. Don't worry about being too perfect—shingling them slightly creates a realistic, textured look. Leave the face area smooth for the features!
Chill in refrigerator for 5-15 minutes or freezer for about 5 minutes to firm up before you start adding the decorations.
Decorate the Face
The Eyes: Press two pink heart sprinkles into the face.
The Nose: Place one pink heart sprinkle upside-down just below the eyes.
The Whiskers: Cut fresh chives into very thin pieces about half an inch long. Carefully press three into each side of the nose area.
The Mouth: Use two tiny, curved snips of chive to create a little "W" shape under the heart nose.
Serve
Serve immediately with your favorite crackers. If you aren't serving it right away, keep it in the fridge, but add the chives just before the party starts so they stay crisp and upright!
Notes
If the cheese gets too soft while you are shaping it, pop it in the freezer for 5-10 minutes to firm up before you start adding the decorations.
