Add soil to your container. If using a container with no drain, protect it by lining the container with plastic. Then add some rocks to the bottom before adding the soil. This will help the water drain and not drown your plants if you over-water them.

Loosen the soil at the bottom of each plant, so the roots are exposed to the soil.

Plant your favorite herbs, plants and flowers. Add various heights and take note to leave space for plant growth.
