These Star Wars Cake is out of this world! No-Bake treats that look like Han Solo and Chewbacca. Easy to make desserts perfect for a Star Wars Birthday Party.
Han Solo and Chewbacca Star Wars Cake
I’m so excited about this fun idea for a Star Wars cake! I can still remember the first time I saw Star Wars in the 1970’s. It blew my mind and I’ve been a super fan ever since! Now with so many new Star Wars movies coming out, I had to create some fun food for a Star Wars Party! Because Han Solo and Chewbacca are my favorite characters, I spent some time creating them out of Twinkies!
These Star Wars treats are out of this world and easy to make because there is no baking involved. If you prefer fresh baked cake, bake a sheet cake and cut into small rectangles.

Easy Star Wars Cake Recipe
I’ve got a full video tutorial of me making the Chewbacca Star Wars Cake below. Here are step by step directions for you as well!
You’ll need:
- Disposable Icing Decorating Bags
- Chocolate Frosting
- Salted Caramel Frosting (or something similar that is light brown)
- Icing Tips – I use these Wilton tips because they attach to the icing tubes. (You’ll need a 125 Petal tip for Han Solo’s hair and a 223 Grass Tip for Chewy’s hair)
- Black Icing
- White Icing
- White Icing Writer
- Silver Sprinkles
- Tootsie Rolls
- Twinkies
- Chocolate Sprinkles (optional)
TIP: Add 1-2 teaspoons of powdered sugar to canned frosting to thicken it up so the frosting won’t melt or be runny.
How to Make Han Solo Cake
- Frost the top half of a Twinkie with white or flesh colored icing.
- Add chocolate frosting for hair. I used a petal icing tip.
- Pipe a white line of icing down the middle of the Twinkie, then cover each side of the white line with black icing.
- Pipe on the white shirt collar and arms.
- To make the face, roll up tiny bits of Tootsie Roll for the eyes and roll out a mouth. Use chocolate sprinkles or Tootsie Rolls for eye brows.
How to Make Chewbacca Cake
- Divide the two chocolate frostings into a decorating bag so when you frost your cake, the hair looks multi-colored.
- Begin frosting the Twinkie by starting with Chewy’s head. Start in the middle and pipe outward.
- Frost the rest of the cake.
- Pipe a nose and mouth with black icing. Use a white icing writer to pipe on fangs and give the eyes a pop of white!
- Add an additional mustache around his nose. Then add more frosting hair from his nose to his forehead.
- Melt a Tootsie Roll for 10-15 seconds in the microwave and roll it out flat. Trim to a 1.4″ wide utility belt. Press silver sprinkles into the candy to make it look more realistic.
- Make some arms on either side of the cake.
Refrigerate after finishing. Take out of the refrigerator 15 minutes before serving. You can also turn them into Cake Pops by adding a lollipop stick.
