What are the Layers of a Peppermint Trifle?
The layers of a trifle usually consist of some sort of cake or brownie and creamy whipped cream.
For this version we use candy canes, but you could also add fruit. Brownies would be amazing in place of the angel food cake too.
I’m always obsessed with anything mini! Mini desserts like these little candy cane trifles are not only super cute to serve a party, but they allow you to taste the desserts without going overboard.

How early can I make a trifle?
Wondering if you can make a trifle ahead of time? It’s best to not assemble your trifle too early as the cake will end up soggy.
You can prepare your cake and whipped cream ahead of time and freeze. When you’re ready to assemble, thaw the ingredients and layer the day you plan to serve.
