I spent all day yesterday walking around THE largest flea market not only in Texas, but in the United States. Whew… I’m still hot and tired! Flea market shopping is hard work. ha!
Out of the thousands of products being sold there, I was the most excited about bringing home these Campfire Fishing Poles to roast hot dogs and marshmallows!
I’m happy to share my flea market shopping story and these fishing poles with you for today’s Fab Find Friday.
I had the best time walking around the gigantic First Monday Trade Days flea market in Canton, Texas. There are booths from fancy to just plain wild.
This sums up our day… we basically got through only about 3-4 buildings and would end up stuck in one booth at a time for about an hour. The booths with the hats got ALL of our money on this trip. ha! I think we left with about 20 hats total in our car.
This hat was one of our favorite purchases as it totally sums up our friend Katrina!
She really is the “queen of freaking everything” now after she bought not ONE, but THREE giant metal parrots on hanging bird perches. (Not pictured below, but you can only imagine:-)
After we returned from Canton, you should have seen her husband’s face as he carried them from the car to her backyard. Priceless.
If you live near Texas, going to Canton to shop is a must do! The town itself is full of small town charm and character. Two things I love about a town!
To give you that full Texas experience, there is a general gun store smack dab in the middle of town. It was closed by the time we got done at the flea market, but I still had fun taking silly photos out front! (Note my new bling Texas Rangers hat!)
Okay, so back to Fab Find Friday…
You have to check out these cool Campfire Fishing Poles to roast hot dogs and marshmallows! If you camp or love roasting marshmallows over a patio fire pit, you’ll love these fun gadgets.
Since I bought three, the shop owner thew in a handmade wooden stand. You can buy them online but have to visit Canton to get your own stand:-) I’m excited to try them out this summer!
At the end of the day, one of my friends had to confess that when she saw these she thought “Who the heck would buy marshmallow roasting fishing poles???” Then we both laughed, because of course she should know it would be me! ha! I’m all about the goofy gadgets, plus you have to admit, these are really cool for kids!
I think after we finally squeezed our car full of fishing poles, hats, mirrors, jewelry, picture frames, antique dishes, wall decor, clothes and giant metal hanging parrots… it was a good day!
Have you been to Canton before? I’m ready to go back soon… I might just get my own metal parrots!
Here is an update after one metal parrot was hung… ๐
Amy, I am thoroughly enjoying your wonderful take on the world and all of the great things and places and people you talk about and share with us! God bless and keep up the great job! ๐
We use our fire pit a few times a week so this would be so much fun
