The first time I made them, my son went crazy for them, asking me to make more for his friends at school. That was a huge compliment coming from him. These are your typical southern buttermilk biscuits but with a sweet twist. Adding Halloween sprinkles to them instantly sweetens them and the glaze is well, the icing on the ‘biscuit’!

Ingredients

Dough

  • 3 Cups of Self Rising Flour
  • 1 stick of Butter
  • 1/2 cup of sprinkles

Glaze

  • 2 cups of Confectioner’s Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 3 tablespoons of water

Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, add in your self rising flour.  Add in the butter and using your hands begin to ‘crumble’ the butter into the flour. You want to completely mix the butter to make crumbs.

You can also use a food processor to mix the flour and butter until you get the crumbly texture.  Add in your sprinkles.

Make a ‘hole’ in the middle of the flour and butter mix and pour in slowly 1/2 cup of milk.

Using a spatula, fold over the flour on top of the milk and press down. If it is still too dry, add in more milk and fold over and then mix until a dough forms.

This homemade biscuit recipe with a twist can be made for any holiday!

For Thanksgiving, add orange or chocolate sprinkles and a dab of orange food coloring to your glaze. Christmas biscuits would be amazing with all the holiday themed sprinkles and a red and green glaze.
