I’m taking time off to enjoy the holiday season with my family, get caught up on some shopping and maybe one of these days I will mail out my Christmas cards. Right now, I’m still trying to find some presents I hid a while ago and totally forgot about until now! ha.
Decorating a gingerbread house is one of our favorite family traditions. My friend Belinda makes us one each year with her secret gingerbread recipe and it’s so yummy!!
If you don’t bake, or have a friend like Belinda, run out and get one of those ready made kits today! We had an absolute blast decorating our house. Plus it took the entire afternoon and they never got bored or whined once. I know… it was a Christmas miracle. ha!
Belinda also gave me some dough. We’ll be decorating cookies today, drinking hot cocoa (even though it’s 75 degrees here in Dallas) and watching Christmas movies tonight.
I hope you’re having a wonderful holiday as well! Postings will be irregular here until the New Year as I’ll be digging through closets and looking under beds for hidden gifts.
@Amy,
Love the gingerbread house Amy…great idea your son had with the chocolate roof. I hope your holidays were filled with fun, love and happiness. All the best for the new year Amy!
Merry Christmas, Amy. It’s been a wonderful year; look at how far you’ve come! I’m so thrilled for you, and I can’t wait to see what the new year holds. I absolutely adore the gingerbread house; we ALWAYS do one, even if it’s a kit. (and one year, when Adam was little, I had a couple of his little friends and their mommies over. I had made “gingerbread” houses using graham crackers the day before so they could dry. I had frosting and all sorts of candies, and the mommies and kids (I think they were 3) decorated their houses together. The friends got to leave with theirs; it was a LOT of fun!) Gingerbread houses usually leave you with great memories…
Amy,
I love your fence! The background is so cute against the house. Great pictures!

@Screwed Up Texan,
The roof was my son’s idea. I wanted to use peppermints:-)
Enjoy your site so very much. Have a “merry, merry” with your family and a great 2011.
I love the chocolate roof! That’s my favorite part!
At least today it’s nice and cool….yesterday’s 80 degrees was just too much for December!
FABULOUS Amy!! We’ve never made gingerbread houses…..too cute!!
Merry Christmas
