Those of you who don’t have small children with an Elf on the Shelf probably think those of us with them are nuts! Ha! But I’m here to tell you, it’s so much fun. My kids have always loved when our Elf Peter visits, but this year is even more magical. I’m not sure why? But this year, my daughter is REALLY into her elf.
She has been getting up at the crack of dawn to talk to him! She whispers and sings songs to him, she draws him pictures and writes him letters.
A few nights ago she wrote Peter this note and left him a bowl full of mini marshmallows.
The next morning when it was still dark outside, I heard giggles and singing coming from my living room. It was about 5 am and she was up talking to Peter the Elf!
Our rule is don’t wake mommy until her alarm goes off, but I couldn’t help waking up so I could listen to her sweet giggles. After a while, she couldn’t stand it any longer and came to get me.
We laughed and laughed about what Peter had done with his marshmallows! Besides eating them, he made a Santa beard with them. They were even all over the floor. He’s one silly elf!
Even though we are all getting less sleep lately because of our Elf on the Shelf, it’s all worth it!
Others might think the elf craze is silly, but I’m up for being a little nutty to make some treasured family memories with my children. How about you?
