It seems that my daughter has been eating part of her lunch at snack time in Kindergarten. So I made these labels just for her snack, so she wouldn’t get confused. I’m sharing these the help all of you with little ones in school.

Now my daughter has a little brown sack in her backpack just for her snack. She likes being in charge of packing her snack and putting the label on her bag. Plus, I’m hoping they will help her learn about the days of the week too!

The labels are designed to fit Avery 8160 address labels (30 per page). You can personalize them with up to 3 different children’s names per sheet.

We’ve been staying up late, making forts with sheets and swimming. No fancy vacations this year, just visiting family and learning to tie shoes. (A BIG accomplishment around here!) But I still have to make time to work. There are many things that have to get done.

As summer starts to become a very busy one for me. I try to take moments throughout the day for special times with both of my children.

Whether it is making a bubbly drink or playing a game of chess that I have no idea how to play… I hope they remember that I wasn’t always in front of a computer or on the phone for work.

I hope they remember that mom was home with them and doing her best to be a good parent.

4 Tips for Work-at-Home Parents

My kids are only going to a few weeks of camp this summer, the rest of the time they are home. With no family nearby to help with babysitting, here are a few tips from what I’m doing to find some balance…

1. Have certain hours or days that you work. Let your clients, co-workers and your kids know these hours.

Make sure your kids understand these are times you will be working and have activities planned for them such as crafting, drawing, play dough, building forts, cleaning their rooms or reading. I’ve found that inviting friends over doesn’t help and makes it harder to get work done.

2. Take several hours a day to be totally offline and just play with the kids.

I personally have to get out of the house, or I’m too tempted to check email or Facebook! We have a fun bowl full of activities or places to visit that we wrote down on small pieces of paper. The kids can draw one activity a day if they’ve been good while Mommy works.

3. Do less.

It’s okay to say no. I’ve found when I say no to one good thing, something really great usually comes around the corner. I have also not been blogging as much as you might have noticed. Or maybe not? Either way, I’m doing less to make more time for my kiddos:-)

4. Take time out for you.

I just went on a trip with my college girlfriends and it was such a wonderful time. I feel I’m a much happier person when I take time out for myself, even if it’s just reading a book or relaxing in the bathtub. A happy mom, makes everyone happier!

If you have kids, then you should LOVE this free printable I created for kids. I’ve been trying to figure out a new way of getting them to do extra chores and when my friend’s son came home from school with an application for classroom jobs… I just had to make one for my house!!

Basically, this is a job application for chores beyond my children’s normal duties of cleaning their room and picking up toys. I feel like they should do everyday chores as a part of our family, but should learn what it’s like to be in the “real world” by getting paid to do specific jobs. I have used the Dave Ramsey book and a chore chart to teach them about money, which I still LOVE, but needed to change it up a bit.

This application has jobs that will work for both preschoolers and grade school aged kids. It lets them choose their own jobs and you set the time period and how much they will get paid. Just download and read it… I think you’ll enjoy it. I sure had fun making it!!

If you were wondering about the job “Speaker of the House”…. it’s to try to get my son to open up more about his day. So far, he has NOT picked that job yet. ha!

I am trying my hand at the reward jar for my 3 year old. Since we have a ton of Legos around our house, she will be getting one Lego for each time she behaves well or does a chore. When the jar is full she will get her reward of going to the American Girl store. Something I’ve been bribing her with for weeks! hee.

I designed a bunch and let her choose her label. She wanted them all, but decided on the pink and zebra print. I’ve created a free printable file with eight designs. Use marbles, coins or whatever you have in abundance around the house to fill your child’s reward jar. Here’s hoping they are GOOD!

I love to have dates with my son. I’ve found having one child at a time is so much more fun than having them all together fighting:-) Funny how they are so well behaved when there is just one right?

For one of his birthday presents, back in January, I took him go-kart riding. Talk about fun!!

I had to laugh because Mr. Cool insisted on wearing his sunglasses. Boys crack me up!

They are funny until they talk you into riding these…

Little did I know the bumper boats had gigantic water guns that squirted about 20 feet!!  Remember it was January and that water was like ice! You’d think I would have thought twice about it after seeing this sign.

And of course 7 year old boys have NO MERCY! Especially on their mom! Yes, I was soaked from head to toe and freezing! That little rascal!

Think he felt bad? Naaaaa….

Not at all. Not one bit.

I hope this inspires you to go on a date with one of your kids this weekend. Just remember to stay away from bumper boats especially if you have a pesky little boy:-)
