I have so much to show you that I will split it up into parts. I hope you enjoy Part 1... it's all about the decor.

Don't even bother going to the party stores to find decorations because there are none. I designed some cute invitations that fold over and are held together by "Open With Caution" stickers.

I also used the stickers for goodie bags which I'll show details on my Part 2 post. Since I'm all about the free downloads... <h4>Now to my favorite part of the party&#8230; the cake!!</h4>
<p>I am all about <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" id="aptureLink_0pFzhIiroX" href="http://cupcakestakethecake.blogspot.com/2009/05/mad-scientist-cupcakes-for-birthday-boy.html">cupcakes</a> lately and had the best time decorating these. I just LOVE the little scientist guy.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.livinglocurto.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/cake.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-2263 alignnone" title="cake" src="http://www.livinglocurto.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/cake.jpg" alt="" width="350" height="503" /></a></p>
<p>Let&#8217;s get a closer look and you&#8217;ll see how I did it&#8230;</p>
<p><a href="http://www.livinglocurto.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/scientistcake1.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-7776" title="scientistcake" src="http://www.livinglocurto.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/scientistcake1.jpg" alt="" width="350" height="289" /></a></p>
<h4>Candy needed:</h4>
<p>Tie- fruit roll-up</p>
<p>Nose and ears- jelly beans</p>
<p>Eyes- mini M&amp;M&#8217;s</p>
<p>Mouth- fruit cereal</p>
<p>I mixed up some flesh colored icing for the face. The hair was done by putting the icing in a sandwich baggie and cutting a v shape in a corner. You can then squeeze out the crazy hair! The glasses can be done the same but with a tiny cut in the corner of the bag. I used chocolate icing from a can for those.</p>
<p>Make sure after you place the head cupcake on top of the other cupcake you secure with toothpicks. I didn&#8217;t do this and my guy fell smack on the floor as I was carefully moving him to the fridge!! This was my second little mad scientist of the night.</p>
<p>Roll the sides of your cupcakes in sprinkles for a festive look. I found some eyeball gummy candy on sale from Halloween. Worked perfect for decoration.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.livinglocurto.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/closeupcupcake.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2265" title="closeupcupcake" src="http://www.livinglocurto.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/closeupcupcake.jpg" alt="" width="350" height="467" /></a></p>
<p>I didn&#8217;t have a large cupcake stand, so I rigged one by stacking a glass on top of my cake stand and adding a glass plate with another glass on top of that. It worked great!</p>
<p><a href="http://www.livinglocurto.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/skull.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2269" title="skull" src="http://www.livinglocurto.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/skull.jpg" alt="" width="350" height="263" /></a></p>
<p>I decorated the table with creepy things! Vases with water and neon food coloring in them. I added plastic snakes and lizards. For a great effect, add dry ice. I happened to have this gadget that produces bubbles, one of my favorite Halloween buys this year! Who knew it would come in handy now?</p>
<p><a href="http://www.livinglocurto.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/mnms.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2267" title="mnms" src="http://www.livinglocurto.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/mnms.jpg" alt="" width="350" height="466" /></a></p>
<p>See the finger in the test tube? Add oil and water with a drop of food coloring and you have a fun bubbly experiment for the kids to play with.</p>
<p>If you look closely you&#8217;ll see my son&#8217;s face on the M&amp;M&#8217;s. These <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" id="aptureLink_WvE2T5SaZY" href="http://www.mymms.com/customprint_faces/?sc_cid=DR_LV2">custom candies</a> are the coolest! The kids thought it was great to eat my son&#8217;s head. ha!</p>
