10 Facts – A City Kid’s Trip to The Pioneer Woman’s Ranch

1. The Pioneer Woman’s driveway is full of beautiful wild horses. They block the road and sometimes run next to your car. Perfect for freaking out any young city kid in the back seat.

2. When a city kid is scared of fireworks, a cowboy is great at teaching him to be brave. When a cowboy talks, a city kid listens!

3. Cowboys are especially good at teaching city kids how to light things on fire!

4. A city kid will probably wear the brightest shoes possible in hopes the country kids might think he’s a rodeo clown.

5. When country kids could care less, a city kid is more than likely to tattletale on a famous dog after he does something bad. (You’ll have to ask The Pioneer Woman what her dog did, because I would never rat out poor Charlie:-)

6. City kids are amazed to find out the country kid’s parents light gigantic fireworks themselves.

7. An hour into the fireworks show, you might hear a city kid asking “When will it be over?” just as a cowboy announces through the smoke that they are only half way through.

8. A certain famous dog might not be too happy a certain city kid ratted him out. A stare down match might begin. Or maybe the dog will just wonder what those bright blue things are on the city kid’s feet?

9. A country dog will give up all thoughts of city kids after a few seconds. A nap in the middle of the loudest fireworks show ever will be much more satisfying.

10. A city kid will be talking about how much fun he had for several days!!

Ice Cream Sandwich Pops

Why I can’t just serve my children a treat straight out of the box, I don’t know? Now they are spoiled and expect something homemade or spectacular! These easy ice cream sandwich pops do the trick and take no time at all!

I found some mini ice cream sandwiches, cut them in half, added a lollipop stick, then covered the edges in festive sprinkles. Put them on wax paper and freeze. Serve in a cute cupcake wrapper for a fun summer treat that looks homemade AND spectacular!

Don’t forget to make some big ones for yourself. Yum!!

My Story in Photos – Theme: Patriotic Edition

This is our week off from our normal challenge where we tell our story through photos. There are no judges and it’s all for fun!

When I think of America, I think of freedom and our flag… so of course I was all geared up to take some red, white and blue photos and happy kids while we watched fireworks. Well, my son came down with a stomach bug, so we stayed home watching movies and whining most of the night! Whaaa! Before the sickness, we did see some really cool planes flying over our house and visited with friends we hadn’t seen in a long time.

These photos summarize what we enjoy about our 4th of July holiday. Friends, fun and food! All of which we were thankful to have this weekend! Fireworks will have to wait until next year:-) Thanks Ted and Robin for inviting us over. The kids had a blast in your pool! We hope we didn’t make anyone sick!!

My friend, Ted, is the best cook! He made this dinner…. it was awesome! I’ll post recipes as soon as he sends them to me:-)
