Easy DIY Frame made with Party with Amy Locurto from Pebbles Scrapbook Collection. DIY Gift - Craft Tutorial

May is National Scrapbook Month! I was so excited when Michaels contacted me with a challenge to Make Every Moment Count by creating a scrapbook project. First of all, I love paper crafting and second,  I love a challenge to find new ways to use my new paper line.

For this easy DIY Scrapbook Frame, I used a wooden frame from Michaels and a mix of my Pool Party Collection and Rainbow Collection from Pebbles.

How to make a DIY Scrapbook Frame

Michaels - Make Every Moment Count!

What you’ll need:

  • Wooden Frame from Micheals
  • Scrapbook Paper – For the frame, I used Party with Amy Locurto, Head in the Clouds. For the photo section I used Hello Sunshine.
  • Mini Garland – Party with Amy Locurto Pool Collection Garland
  • Colorful Paper Straws
  • Embellishments – I used my Pool Collection Stickers, Paper Flowers, and Rainbow Collection Dimensional Stickers
  • Modpodge & Foam Brush
  • Washi Tape or Paint –  I used this tape.
  • Exacto knife & Scissors
  • Hot Glue

Overall, this project is REALLY easy!

The hardest part is working with the paper and Modpodge. That part takes patience! Don’t worry, I walk you through each step and have a few tips to help keep the paper from wrinkling on the frame.

Directions:

1. Turn the frame upside down on your paper and carefully trim the paper to the size of your frame with an Exacto knife. If it doesn’t turn out perfect to size, you can use sandpaper to give it a rustic edge look.

2. Cover the frame with a layer of Modpodge, then add the paper to the frame.  Smooth the paper as much as you can with your fingers or a brayer. This part takes patience. There will be bubbles and wrinkles. If you can get it smooth, let it dry (15-20 minutes). Add a layer of Modpodge over the paper to seal it.

NOTE: You can also mist paper with water before attaching to the frame to help with wrinkles. I didn’t let mine dry after sticking it to the frame, I just kept adding Modpodge over it and smoothed the wrinkles with my finger until it was all smooth. This took me about 10 minutes. Once the paper is wet, it’s easier to work with.

3. After the paper is dry, start decorating with your embellishments. This is the fun part! I hot glued everything to be sure it wouldn’t fall off.

4. Add washi tape to the edge of the frame for a finished look. If you want to use paint, be sure to paint the frame edges before adding the paper.
