President’s Day Craft Ideas For Kids

President’s Day Crafts are a great way to teach kids about American history. Did you know that Presidents’ Day is officially known as Washington’s Birthday?

When is President’s Day?

Washington’s Birthday is a United States federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday of February in honor of George Washington, the first President of the United States, who was born on February 22, 1732.

The shift from Washington’s Birthday to Presidents’ Day began in the late 1960s when Congress proposed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act. The Uniform Monday Holiday Act combined the celebration of Washington’s Birthday with Abraham Lincoln’s birthday, which fell on February 12.

I’m fascinated with history and love teaching my kids about the Presidents. When my son was really little, he could name each President by memory. It was so fun to hear his little voice recite all of the president’s names. We slacked off studying them and he doesn’t remember much now, but he definitely has a love of history still to this day.

I thought it would be fun to quiz him today about the presidents and do a few kid crafts. Here are some cutePresident’s Day kid craft activities I’ve found around the internet. Click below for directions and more fun President’s Day craft ideas for kids.
