I did the same thing and had to use the knee bender too and it gets easier everyday. The pain does subside too.....it's the first few days that it's tough. Then there's PT. Definately get a Polar Ice Machine. I got a new ACL and I had a 'rigid meniscus'...sounds funny! It's amazing how they can make it all work again and then make you move your knew the very next day. It's all mind over matter. If he ices it constantly the pain should subside.
