Gifts from Kids

I’m excited to announce I will be featuring guest mom bloggers! Today is the kick-off day!

I will be introducing you to a few ultra cool and crafty moms who are also work from home graphic designers like myself. I hope you enjoy their ideas as much as I do! Find out more about this week’s guest on my sidebar.

I absolutely love this idea and can’t wait to do this with with my kids! – Amy

As we evolve into the gift-giving season, I like to remind my children that it is important for them to be givers as well as receivers, and how much fun the process of giving can be.

So here’s a cute little project we did a few years ago as Christmas gifts for Jeff’s dad, aka: Papa.

Using inexpensive craft canvas boards and acrylic paint, the kids painted sweet and simple self portraits. I drew basic pencil lines on the boards to keep the artwork consistent in layout, leaving an area at the bottom for names. We attached plate hanging hardware to the backs and they each wrapped their own.

The portraits now hang in their father’s old childhood bedroom at their Papa’s house and I just love seeing them whenever I visit.

What a great idea! I wish there was a way I could somehow transfer the self portraits my kids did in preschool to something smaller to hang on the wall. They did life-size busts of themselves that are currently rolled up and stored in their memory boxes.

Do any places have the ability to scan large items like that, Amy?? Then maybe I could have the images mounted somehow in 11 x 14 size.

What a fun idea to have guest mom bloggers. Welcome, Cathe! I agree that children need to learn about giving as well as receiving this time of year, and I like this idea! Very cute. :-)

    Dot-

Any place that makes signs can help you. We have a place called Fast Signs. Kinkos or a photo lab will be able to scan large images also.
